Bit of an odd one (to me). Had my iPhone running fine on 3.1.2 for a year or so, before upgrading to 4.3.1. I jailbreaked successfully using redsn0w, but had issues installing Cydia, so left it at that for another crack at it this weekend.
My other half just got back and told me she'd sent like 10 messages over the day and tried calling and i got none of these. Turns out if i try and call out, or receive calls (same for SMS) the phone refuses and acts like its turned off.
I upgraded to 4.3.2 (thus removing any JB) and the same problem again. I trawled Google and found out this can happen sometimes and if you disable 3G in Network Settings it all springs back into life. Sure enough thats what happened and now i have a working iPhone 3GS again, minus 3G functionality.
Has anyone ever experienced this before?
