iPhone 3GS and BOSE Sound dock

Hello,

I have a BOSE sounddock thats working great with my ipod touch 2nd gen, charges the ipod no problems.

I brought the dock back in april this year, only a few months old. It says its compatible with the iphone on the box.

Can anyone confirm that its compatible with the iphone 3GS ??

Surely if it says it's compatible with the iPhone then it would be compatible with the 3GS. Can't see why it would work with the 3G but not the 3GS...

From what I understand, the original iPhone was able to be charged by firewire but that was removed with the 3G and also the 3GS. The first gen iPod Touch would also charge by firewire but the second gen doesn't. So if it's charging your second gen iPod Touch then it should work with the 3GS. Hopefully someone can confirm this or correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct, Nano 4G, Classic 6G, iPhone 3G+3GS lack the firewire chip to allow charging by "old" accessories. You can buy a small adapter at the Apple store (or online, it's called the Griffin Power Converter IIRC). Had to get one for the ipod dock in our car.

Ooo thanks for that info, my iPhone doesn't charge with my car so this may do the job!

yup, that's the one. Allows it to charge in our VW with the official iPod connector they provide. Really annoying that it was required though :mad:

That sort of transcends the level of "Apple tax" pricing to the realms of a mickey take though. £20 for a wiring adaptor?
