iPhone 3gs black screen :(

Hey everyone, so i was given an iphone 3gs as my htc died on me but the phone had a few cracks in the glass. I bought a new screen with the digitizer and followed a video on youtube taking it slow and steady. I thought everything went well until i went to turn the phone back on again and a white screen greeted me. Thinking this was a bad thing as i have heard of these "white screens of death" i sighed and died inside. About ten seconds later with the phone still in my hand the screen went black and i thought they power was gone. I turned the vibrate/silent switch on the side and it vibrated so im guessing it still had life. I went back to step one and re did it from scratch but it is still just a black screen :/


I have tried Google and some people suggested taking out the wires then lifting the mother board then putting certain connectors back but that didn't help. Has anyone had this problem and manged/knows a way to fix it?

I'm guessing its not in DFU/Recovery?

Hi I fix these for a living and the white lcd is quite common thing to happen if you didnt turn the phone off before removing it.

The black screen could mean you didnt fit the last connector on right, its the number 1 connector and its the last one you would have fitted before closing down the screen.

check that number 1 connector, its a bugger sometimes so take your time and if you get a white screen again dont panic. just hold the home button and power button together for about 10 secs and it will restart, obviously make sure the screen is closed down into the casing.

oh and its not in dfu mode.

Yeah im having a bit of a moment here bashing my head against the table, why i didnt turn it off before taking it appart i will never know haha. I have tried re-sitting the cables about 10 times or so and its still just giving me a black screen. I will have to get a replacement LCD screen and give it a go!

Ok if you think it's damaged eBay a used original one they are 14.99 and better than the fake new ones.
 
Also you have tried the home button and power button reset like I said above?
 
Hey man, yeahh i cant get it back to the white screen :/ whats the easiest way to make sure its off when i put the new screen in?
 
I wouldn't worry to much the screen would have been damaged by you not any shorting of the connector.
Just fit new screen close it all up and then hold the power button and home button same time for about 10 secs
