Been using the 3gs for a few weeks now since I got rid of the iphone4 and one thing I noticed is on ios 4.3 the phone can be dog slow.
Texting/emailing can be unresponsive, ipod can take 2-3 seconds to load up etc.

It might not seem that bad but if you use the 3gs on ios3, everything loads instantly.

Obviously the problem with the 3gs is the limited memory so I downloaded ztoggle and disabled multitasking and now everything loads instantly.

Just thought I'd share this to any 3gs users.

I do this on occasion on my 4th gen Touch as it also shares the same 256MB as the iPhone 3GS.

I use iFile and directly edit the .plist file to turn off multitasking as I don't like installing extra software.

I'm going to try that, and install Backgrounder.

Only want mail, SMS and this and that running in the background anyway!

Edit: zToggle crashes :/

I got annoyed at the home screen animations skipping so I turned off both multitasking and the wallpapers and it's like a lightning fast 3GS now. :p

Ok i've done it another way:

Using backgrounder i've disabled Native Backgrounding except for Mail (need it for LockInfo), iPod and Latitude. Forced backgrounding for SMS. Using SwitcherMod removes recent apps from the multitasking bar (As disabling native backgrounding still doesn't remove the icons from the bar).

This means now I have want I want running and 90-100Mb free of memory and everything running smoothly. Lovely :D
