iPhone 3Gs O2 Petition!

This is completely ridiculous, why do Apple fans always think they are so special? None of us can upgrade to the latest Nokia when it comes out and we are in contract so what makes Apple fans think they are different?

Well, in fairness, the first time round they were allowed an easy route out of contracts to get the new iPhone.

The issue that is lost on most of these people is that that was down to the fact that the original iPhone was bought outright, whereas the 3G was subsidised by O2 (like virtually every other phone).

It's surprising what a difficult leap of understanding that seems to be for so many people though.

What are the restrictions on vodafones data useage and what is the limit per month? seriously considering switching to get the HTC touch
Not really much of an answer but T-Mobile have for a long while been the best choice for data, not checked them out recently as I went iPhone.

Definitely wrong. Since when has it been exclusive to Apple? Android forums have been going nuts about tethering for ages.

Fact is the iphone is annoyingly nice to use. Yes it is missing a few features, but it doesnt have you smashing your head against it because it is so inherently laggy and generally crap.

Whats the problem with Apps? There are thousands of them and many are excellent, the delivery system paved the way for pretty every other manufacturer to clone it, and the quality and functionality of the apps on offer is far above any i've experienced on any other phone.

And coming from a prolific Nokia fanboy makes it all the more entertaining :p

I'm aware of that, and as I said, I've been doing it for years without ever hearing of this silly name. Where is the tether? There isn't one.

I dont get why its used instead of connect / connecting. It's not like its a word worth using.

Also, after working for t-mob for over 5 years and using decent phones to go online etc, i cant say i have EVER heard it or read it before!

I agree that O2's prices in general are insane these days. However, they're a company in a competitive market. If you don't like their prices, take your business elsewhere. Pounds speak louder than petitions.
ORLY??

I think o2 have a fantasic "simplicity" package.
Where else can I get 600 mins and 1200 text along with a Blackberry package for £20 per month??

Anyway, the iphone is officially a joke IMO, I had a 3g one, it was revolutionary at the time of release and it has permanently changed the way manufacturers designe the interface of their devices, unfortunatley everyone has caught up,.

I think android is the future, as it's free and open source.

What on earth is "Blackberry package"? You're not talking about the unlimited web "bolt-on" on a sim only tariff, are you?

I don't know why Apple didn't make the iPhone 3Gs the same size as the ipod touch?? They are meant to be good at the whole design thing ;)

What they should have done is upped the screen resolution. My HD has 2.5x as many pixels as the iPhone. Fitting all the extra hardware that comes with the iPhone (vs the iPod Touch) into the iPod Touch chassis would be tricky.. I imagine they were cutting it pretty fine with the iPod.

That screen would murder the battery though... I think the iphone screen is good enough for it's size.

Just like the iPhone is the first phone ever to have Applications.

? Apps have been around for years - downloadable games are apps, sat nav is an app & I could list another dozen types of apps that have been around for a long time before iphone. iphone was the first device to carry it's own app store and to develop and promote a strong community of app developers though which brough all kinds of apps to the mass market.

Just a shame about the looks and the hardware.:p

I was using boxes in windows 3.1, and they are still here in vista. (being serious, the pages of boxes really isn't attractive in the slightest.)

There is nothing wrong with the apps for the iPhone, just that every other smart phone has "apps" (or programs on WM) and has done since the dawn of time. I think you'll find there are far more "apps" for windows mobile than iPhone, and a huge number of them are VERY good (made by large companies, as well as individuals). The one thing you have to do with WM though is look through a variety of different sites (although there are only 2 main ones) to find them, as you said the delivery system (although it has its flaws) is very good.

The only "joke" about O2's pricing is the iphone tariffs, but then they know that suckers will buy it at any price, the rest of their tariffs are pretty good.

There was nothing revolutioary about the iPhone, Apple just brought together a lot of existing technology (some of it pretty outdated) and stuck a fast, easy to use UI into it. Hardware wise it is pretty much a 5 year old WM or Symbian device, but with a new OS. As for desigh of the interface it's very similar to a scaled up version of Sony Ericssons UI, which has been basically unchanged (image wise) for about 10 years!

That screen would murder the battery though... I think the iphone screen is good enough for it's size.

It doesn't on other devices, my Touch HD has an 800x480px screen and the battery lasts two to three days easily. I think the only real benefit of a higher resolution however is for games and the interweb, generally it will just make things look slightly sharper.
