I have just got a Vodafone 3GS iPhone on contract, I am wondering if my o2 sim card will work in it as I want to use it instead of the Vodafone.

Thanks in advance

AFAIK all Vodafone handsets are supplied unlocked, so you should be fine. Why not try it and find out?

certainly not the case with nokias and vodafone,
all have allways been locked to vodafone network,,

re the iphone i cant say i had mine on o2 but now use it one vodafone before it became avvailble through themselves.

That was true up until about two years ago, I buy a lot of Nokia phones from Vodafone and although they all have custom firmware on them I've not had a single Nokia from Vodafone that's been network locked for around two years.

all the ones we had last june as upgrades all were locked £35 a month ones so not cheapo ones. and year before that albeit 18 months ago n85 8gb were all locked.

but maybe today there not ,, i will know june only ever take 12months,, never above

This man speaks the truth ;)

Whether this holds true for the iPhone is yet to be seen however!

I don't think any carrier brands the iPhone hardware and Apple only lets the carrier customise certain parts of the software (called the carrier bundle). My iPhone 3G was locked to O2 but they now allow unlocking for free, not sure on the situation with Vodafone.
