New Years Greetings, my fellow tech-heads
I would appreciate some guidance on a wi-fi problem that has just "wasted" the last few hours at the in-laws residence...
They have a Tiscali (oh dear) broadband service, with the router forced to use WEP 64-bit wireless security, due to the age and lack of compatability of some wireless products in the home.
However, a new Iphone has been bought, but it we cannot get it to connect using the WEP 64-bit security
We tried lower and upper case for the original alpha-numeric key;
a fresh 10-character all numeric and all alphabetic key;
putting a "$" (dollar sign) in front of keys;
inserting a dash ("-") after every 2 characters;
inserting a space after every 2 charcters
During a very quick google search, there is a suggestion that these new Iphones do not like WEP, end of.
We did not find any setting on the Iphone to configure the wireless security type.
Is there perhaps a firmware update that fixes this?
Any other ideas?
I look forward to reading any thoughts, thanks in advance
