As seen in this picture (forget the texts themselves) Are those bubble colours a jailbroken feature or are they standard from another apple device like the ipod?

Just trying to find the answer as i would like to change my current colour.

It will determine if the recipient has iMessage or not. If they haven't it will seamlessly re-send as SMS. Just enable iMessage and forget about it tbh.

iMessage isnt the most reliable. MOst of my friends get my texts late and i get theys late. We all turned it off and use WhatsApp instead.

Sort of. If they have iMessage then it will show "iMessage" in the entry box before you start typing and will then try to send as iMessage, falling back to SMS if it can't deliver the iMessage for any reason, such as either you or the recipient not having 3G or Wifi coverage. If they don't have iMessage then it will just say "Message" in the entry box and won't try to send an iMessage at all.

except if you send pics video in iMessage there free it it got to text they become mms so a charge applies

I've disabled MMS completely. I use iMessage now and then to send pictures but, if it can't send the iMessage for any reason, I don't want it falling back to MMS and charging me.
