iPhone 4 cutting microphone cutting out

Started having an intermittant problem on my iphone where people can't hear me on a phone conversation. I can't seem to find a pattern with it, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but the other person won't hear anything I'm saying which is frustrating.
I thought it might be something stuck in the headphone jack but don't think so as it switches between working and not working and also the same issue happens over bluetooth which leads me into thinking it's a software problem.
i've tried refreshing the firmware but it doesn't fix it.
Tried getting the phone replaced but it was 2 days out of warrenty when I took it in and they wouldn't budge (not an apple store unfortunatly).

any ideas?

Try reseating the sim?

Take it to the Apple store. They may fix it and test it for you.

If it's only a few days out of warranty, call apple and in my experience (10 days out of date), if you insist on speaking with the supervisor, they will replace it without fuss.
A courrier will be sent to you free of charge and you just swap the old one for the new on with the delivery guy

OH, and ask for the money for the call, they refunded me that too

Afraid there's no apple stores in my country, only resellers.
Don't think reseating the sim will help as AFAIK it's only an identification module, regrdless i'll try it anyway.

Doesn't matter, it can be shipped to another country to get it repaired if they allow it. Give Apple a call!
