Had this happening constantly over the last few days, I'll be speaking to someone on the phone then the call will just drop, but the call ending sound doesn't come on and there is just silence, I take the phone away from my ear and I just see the lock screen? Any ideas what could be causing this?

Is your proximity sensor goosed? If it is, you could be ending the call by your cheek touching the end call button.

Test it by making a call and putting your hand over the top of the phone near the earpiece. If your screen goes blank it's fine, if not then you have a dodgy sensor.

Could also be the extreme cold. I've noticed a time or 2 on mine that the sensor is a little temperamental if it's particularly cold and I'm making a call outside.

Just tested this and the proximity sensor is working fine. Hmm

no he'd get the 3 beeps saying the call had failed and a screen saying "call failed - retry" or something like that, sounds like it's diving out of the call like it never happened or as if it'd been manually ended.

Assuming its in warranty I'd just get it down to an apple store, good excuse for a brand spanker :)

Your problem sounds familiar to the antenna issue BBC News

Do you have a case for the phone ?
I do indeed.

Thing is the one I have now is a brand new replacement from october, when the home button on my original phone failed. So this phone is only around 2 months old and its out of warranty..
