Hi guys,
A problem has recently appeared in my iPhone (which I have had since Christmas) Now the problem is that I have to press the home button 2, 3 or even 4 times to get it to respond sometimes and this is getting more and more common and annoying. Will apple do anything if I take it to the Apple store?
Cheers in advance for replies :)

They will probably replace the phone, book a appointment with a Genuis and they will sort you out :)

They did when my ear peice failed on my launch day phone.

+1. Book an appointment and take it back mate. They'll will just replace it.

I have taken over 5 x company iPhones and they just replaced
Them on the spot.

Great, do they replace it with a brand new handset?
If they replace it, will they just remove my SIM and stick it into the replacement phone?

They have boxed up phones behind the Genius bar at my local, I suspect it's a mix of new and reconditioned etc. Basically brand new in any respect, perfect condition. Apple CS is top dog, my girlfriend smashed her IP4 screen a couple of weeks ago. Completely nothing to do with warranty repair etc and they replaced it on the spot for free as a goodwill gesture.

Make sure you back your phone up in iTunes before you take it in, as they will swap your sim and ask you to wipe your phone if they are replacing.

Checking the serial of mine it was made Jan this year, I had my Phone replaced in Feb so I am fairly certain it was a new handset, I did notice the sensor on top of the phone was larger compared to my old model.
Weather this is the case now, not sure.

But, once you do get it replaced they will activate it there and put your sim in.
They also put the screen protector on mine as well :) Once I got home I re-sync with my pc to load the setting on.

Before you go do a complete back of your phone.

Also, what happens if they they can't replicate the fault in store for whatever reason?
Will they tell me to jog?

They should be able to swap it out as I had a company iPhone 4 where the home button was getting struck. However when I took it to the apple store the bloody home button was working correctly. However I told the guy at the store and he just exchanged it fir me.

Maybe I should get mine looked at. Sometimes the home button doesn't register a press and other times it interprets a single press as a double press. Most of the time it's ok though

I also get this problem intermittently, let us know how you get on.

Glad to hear they replace them, mine seems to know my limit and will stick to the point of driving me nuts enough to think about taking it back and then behave itself for a week.

Right, they couldn't replicate the fault at the time, so they said it could be due to me having so many apps in the background that arn't "stopping" properly and are eating up the memory, so they suggested closing memory hogging apps such as mail after using them. However they said if that didn't work and it continues happening they will replace it :)
They said it's difficult to tell whether its a hardware (actual button broken) or software (apps) problem making the button unresponsive.
Very good customer service, very impressed :)

I have just been reading up on iOS programming recently and how it handles multi tasking and system events regarding memory usage. Obviously the apps go into their saved state when they go to background, however if the phone ever starts to run out of memory to perform any action it will automatically terminate any open app (starting with the ones with the highest memory usage first i believe) without any warning given to the app - will just force terminate it.

End result is this should never be a problem and I highly doubt it will be a memory issue to be honest.

Can see you going back to get it replaced, good to know they are willing to do so though :)
