iPhone 4 jb/unlock

Sister has passed on an iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1 to jailbreak and unlock but hasnt got the original sim, and before some says it. Its not nicked

This YouTube seems to think its possible, although as you can see the guy is using a SIM for it.

I can select the .ispw etc and redsn0w says its done, but it just hangs on the apple logo

Find out which baseband it's running first, Settings -> General -> About and it's towards the bottom

You should be able to use RedSn0w with iOS5.x.x.

Download the application, run, connect phone and start program.

Done.

Yeah but it's keeps asking me to activate the phone first...

Can't you use any compatible sim? Fella in work got a second hand network locked 3s and was able to unlock and jailbreak. Sorry I can't be of any help on this one, I'm guessing you don't have a sim you can use?

Yeah I don't have the original sim

Not all iPhones are unlockable through a jailbreak
