iPhone 4 now on 4.1, refuses to work with Head Unit

Right... I have no idea where to ask this so I'll try here first.

I've got an iPod/iPhone compatible Alpine HU in my car. Worked great with the 3GS.

When I got my iPhone 4 it still works but is significantly slower which is a pain, but this could possibly be down to it being a 32gb one, the 3GS was 16gb. Either way, largely irrelevant.

I updated the other night to 4.1 and now it won't work - my girlfriend's iPhone 4 does still work, it's on 4.0.2 currently.

But I'm positive I used it the morning after for a while and it worked, but I can't remember for sure

Anyone else had trouble with their iPhone/iPod HU since 4.1?

I'm just trying to work out what the problem is, I suppose it must be my phone because it works with her iPhone 4 just fine, BUT I'm sure it worked with mine just after the update? Weird.

Any ideas? Thanks

Is it a bluetooth or cable connection? If its bluetooth i found out that i had to reset the history of the bluetooth device at both sides before my iPhone would work.
If its cable then thats just plain weird if it works with another phone.

It's cable.

Instead of the 'accessory connected' screen, I now get an incompatibility message, and the HU just says Searching, and occasionally will give me ERROR 01.

I should look that up actually! brb

Edit: Only references I could find to the Error 01 is that it's not iPhone 4 compatible - it worked until the other day, and my girlfriend's still does.

Someone else mentioned his worked again after a Head Unit reset (not iPhone 4 though) but only for a while, then needed resetting again.

Grr. £140 HU, it'd better not be incompatible from here on in!

Perhaps the head units requires a firmware update. What do Alpine have to say on the matter?

I did have a quick look but found nothing about firmware. Manual only mentions Bluetooth Firmware. I'll have a proper look though, just didn't find any references to it at all :/

funnily enough had exactly the same issue with our alpine when upgrading my 3gs to ios4


the wifes 3gs is still on 3 and works fine mine went belly up after upgrade
