Right had my iphone 4 for few weeks, bloody love it, first smart phone iv had and that, and i know everything about it pretty much apart from this one thing that puzzles me a tad,

You know when ya double tap the circle button home button or what ever it is back button, and then ya can close things that are running in the background from there.

is that like a task manager on windows to get rid of things that are running in the background so it doesnt use up as much resorces? and closing them will keep more battery life im guessing?

thanks :)

Partially. But iOS automatically closes apps when it needs the memory. So while you may have a long list of apps showing only the most recent will actually be using any memory.

This developer video goes into quite a lot of detail on how 'Multitasking' really works on iOS.

I find that when gaming on my phone, closing other background apps makes the whole thing seem snappier.
