iPhone 4 Restore Issue

I was updating my gf's iphone 4 to 4.3 and stupidly hadn't told her. Seen her going on the PC but assumed she was going on facebook, checked 10mins later and the iPhone is sitting in Restore mode with iTunes shut down on the PC. Asked her and she said something had come up on screen and she'd clicked cancel. So yes, she cancelled the update halfway through *facepalm*

Anyway, it's now sitting in Restore mode. Trying to restore on iTunes but it gets about 3/4 of the way through then gives me Error Message 9 which is supposed to be something to do with USB. Tried other machines, tried different USB sockets and cables. Just doesn't work. Got a genius bar appt for tomorrow but anyone got any ideas as to how i may fix it?

Have you checked the windows hosts file to make sure that gs.apple.com hasn't been blocked? Every time I've had an issue like this, it has been down to Firmware umbrella blocking apple update servers. It's worth a check, if an entry is there for that server in the hosts file, delete it and try updating the firmware again.
