Hi there guys,
Ever since last night I have been having issues with the signal, basically there is none for around 5 minutes, then randomly it will pick up an extremely weak signal and then drop it again. All was fine with the signal before last night.
I have, switched the phone on and off several times, checked that the case is not effecting the phone and have restored it. All with no effect. Should I get on the phone to Orange, or pop into Cardiff where they have an orange shop and apple store?

Phone Orange and check they aren't doing any maintenance, that could explain it.

If it doesn't pick up tomorrow (or depending on what Orange say), go into the Apple store and tell them its faulty and needs replacing.

There was network issues last night for a huge area, though it wouldnt have you in Newport.

This is an interesting op. I'm on orange and have been experiencing the same thing since last night in the Manchester area with my Google nexus s. This could be an orange issue or isolated case. At one point my phone said I'm connected to Orange T-Mobile, but only once.

hmm, my restore is finished and the phone is showing that it has 3 bars of signal, still refusing to send message or make calls though. Looks like Cardiff it is.

Hmm, seems to be an Orange problem, my mums 3G is also having major issues. Interestingly though my Dad's Nokia seems to be fine, wonder if it's an iPhone only issue..

Well I got on the phone to orange today and they confirmed that there is a fault with the local mast, they told me to switch 3G off which has indeed sorted the issue until they fix there mast.

It's not just orange, it's a t-mobile thing aswell while this network sharing gets sorted. They're currently trying to implement seemless sharing on the 2g network so there are lots of masts being messed around with atm.

It'll get better eventually, I promise :p

Just while you are here slinky, are Orange/T-Mob going to be selling the iPad 2 when its released?

Orange has been awful up here for the last week, I've spent most of it roamed onto T-Mobile. It's not just my iPhone, my old Sony with a work SIM in it does the same (but without the roaming).

Nothings been said as of yet, but I imagine we will. The question though is when. Orange will probably get it first and t-mobile maybe a month or so after.

For some reason, t-mobile have traditionally always been a month or so behind in releasing apple stuff. It's strange and very annoying. :p

T-mobile for the 10+ years I was with them were always a good three months behind everyone else at launching the latest handsets. I got fedup of broken promises and lies from the call centre staff over the iPhone 4 launch and voted with my feet by leaving.

I think the problem is, our buying department seem to want to always play it safe by watching how a phone sells on another network before commiting to buy, by which time they've missed the boat and everyones already got one from somewhere else :p
