IPhone 4s camera screen black

My iPhone is stuck on a black screen like it has a shutter over it. I am 5 hours away from a cOmputer so is there anything I can do for the time being

Turn on and off.

If that fails to resolve it hold power button and home button and keep held until you see the Apple logo on the screen, that will reset the the iPhone.

Finally got a backup so going to try that.

If that doesnt work I am going to book an appointment but it says advice about updating to latest firmware which I dont want to do as I want to jailbreak my device in the future.

EDIT - Well a restore didnt work :/

Edit 2 - awww cr** just been to belgium for my uncles 50th and lost all my photos from restoring, forgot all about that? Any chance I can get those back, Havent backed up while I was away :/

My iPhone 4 had the same problem and had to be replaced. Something about a loose connection to the camera module?

As for restoring pictures, unless they were in Photo Stream, don't think you can restore anything.

I was unable to get the pictures back sadly and after tech support I did indeed need a replacement. Had enough of Iphones and wont be going back anytime soon.

They are fast and the camera is nice when it works but I just cant justify paying £700 for a phone that has problems and very poor customer service in my own experience despite what everyone else says.
