iPhone 4s Home button/Restore issues

Hey guys,

My iPhone 4s has been playing up recently. Out of nowhere, my home button stopped working, I turned my phone off and plugged it in to charge to see if that solved anything but when I turned it back on it told me to connect to iTunes.

iTunes then told me it was in "recovery mode" and it needed to be restored. Went through the restoration process and then as soon as iTunes identified the device after the restore it told me that it was in "recovery mode" and needed to be restored.

I'm running 5.1.1 (9B206) if that helps. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this issue?

Thanks
Ben

P.s I have checked the home button works by holding both it & the lock button and the phone resets itself but doesn't fix anything. I have also tried recalibrating it both in an app, and on the slide to power off screen.

I have tried restoring in DFU mode, it then instantly tells me that it is in recovery mode and needs restoring.

It sounds like it's gotten itself stuck in a loop, which I had happen before with an old 3G. You need to download the PwnageTool used for jailbreaking. It has a facility to force it out of the recovery mode.

I had this before and it was the home button failing, when I took it to apple they replaced the phone free of charge. I think it's a widespread issue. I hope it doesn't go again on my new one.

Yup, home button sounds like it stuck as if you are constantly holding it down, apple should replace your phone for you, or you could replace the button yourself.
