Hello,

Stupid questions imminent...

I don't have an iPhone 4s but I have an iPod classic and iTunes however not really familiar with it. Anyway I'll get on with what I am after. My girlfriend has an iphone 4s with a ton of music on it plus other bits, photos etc.

We want to do a backup of all her iPhone's (iTunes) music to my PC however her iPhone was originally setup on her dad's PC which is no longer in use. So how can I get all that backed up on my PC.

Then after that how do I put it back on to her iPhone with more music she has bought that is currently on the PC. Can it just sync across then.

Her main concern is backing up what she has already on the iPhone. She thinks I am going to lose it all.

I have my Dads old iPhone 3gs which I am using as experiment but can't find for love nor money how to take the music from it and put it on PC

Are you just concerned about iTunes content? If so, I suspect it will be lost if you attempt to sync it to a different PC as it will be classed as a new library and try to sync from PC > iPhone. As a result, you'll lose the stuff on the iPhone.

Is the old PC still available to use? If so, make sure a backup is performed. These are usually 4-5gb in size and stored in the Roaming profile for the User in Windows. You should probably then save that to a memory stick, load it onto the new PC in the exact same location and therefore iTunes will then think it's a backup of the iPhone. If you need, you might then be able to use that backup via the restore from backup option in iTunes. I think this will include iTunes content but not 100%.

Other option if you are only bothered about music is to subscribe to iTunes Match. It's then all available in iCloud anyway.

You can use a programme called sharepod to export all the music off the iphone, then add them back into the itunes library with the other songs and sync again, that way you wont lose any songs.
