Hi all,

My sister-in-law has givenme her iphone 5 (model A1429) to fix as it isn't working. Pressing the power button does nothing. However if i plug it into the charger or connect it to the PC is will come up with the connect to itunes sign.
I have installed itunes and it says the phone is in recovery mode and will need to be restored. I have done this but i get an error message "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (21)". I have tried downloading the IPSW directly then installing that on the iphone through itunes again i get the "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (21)".
The phone is out of warranty is there anything i can do to fix the phone or is it just a paperweight now?

not yet no.. will have to google how to remove it and then try it at home. I am guessing the battery is dead on it.. as without the phone attached to charger or PC i get nothing.. only when i connect it to a charger or PC do i get connect to itunes screen

can anyone recommend a good seller for a replacement battery for the iphone 5. I have searched e*ay and am**on.. however sellers are listing their batteries as genuine replacement battery but getting bad reviews for them.
Many sellers seem to selling the same product from the pics they post but the price varies???
How do you tell which are the genuine batteries?
Thanks in advance guys :)
