*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

Got mine today, the lock button doesn't feel as solid as my iPhone 4 does, almost rickety as you roll your finger over it.

Anyone else experiencing similar?

After playing around with my brothers im struggling to see the point of upgrading to this, little lighter, little snappier...thats about it. It being "thinner" doesnt even factor into it as it doesnt feel much different in the hand in that respect, not as if the last one was so thick it would pop your hips out of their socket if you had it in your pocket.

If you do get one i'd insist on inspecting the phone before walking out as the problem is not isolated.

Ok, calmed down a bit now.

Spoke to Applecare and they've arranged a replacement but it's 3-5 days by courier, also called the Apple store in Cardiff and they are willing to exchange it, if I can make it there tomorrow.

Tempted to do the latter as they open at 8am and I can check the replacement in person.

Still, very disappointed with a £700 phone.

I think we've hit a point now where it's difficult to come up with something radically better. One area that you missed is the battery though. Seems very good indeed. But then I've had a galaxy nexus for a year.

Well, opened my phone...

There's a mark on the chamfered edge, top left corner

So angry it is unreal. Tempted to drive to Cardiff (50 miles) in the morning just to vent my anger and get an exchange.

What is the likelyhood I will get seen without a genius bar appointment?

Would you mind sharing a photo? I am the same as you. I am about to upgrade from a 4S buying outright for £600 and this damage worries me on so many reports. If It cant even make it out of the box without being damaged I hold little hope for it after a few months.

Yep if a small bit of rattling around in a plastic tray does that it's going to be impossible to look after out of a decent soft case. Surely they tested this out for a while to test the durability.

It's not a £100 bit of plastic we are talking about after all.

Received my 32gb black version delivered to work today. I wasn't there, but have just picked it up and it is now restoring everything from an iPhone 4.

I also ordered 2 x 16gb black versions for work promotions. They had a shipment date of 1 October, but I've just received shipping confirmation - they'll be delivered to work Monday.

I do have a couple of marks on my 32gb black out of the box, and the machining isn't a very consistent polish. Very poor quality control.

If anyone is on O2 they have a £10 off voucher in priority moments atm.

Just got a £14.99 cheap case for £4.99 to protect it while i decide what i want to do about a lont term case.

+1 Griffin Reveal case? I got this for £4.99 with the O2 priority moments £10 off. Quite a good case until I find something long term.

this is my excited face :|

It looks exactly the same, still no replaceable battery, external storage, non breakable screen, front camera and now with no google products. But people still lining up for it.

Oh and almost forgot, still requires the dreadful itunes. lol

Its really quite worrying.. Its a good job I cant afford this until payday. That'll be a week of seeing real world issues with this device.

Awaiting them announcing "iTRAY", for a measly £50 extra they'll glue a piece of foam onto the tray to ensure no scrapes on arrival. :p

obvious troll is obvious

oh and you dont need itunes or even a mac/pc to use any ios devices

I can't say it bothers me. I mean come on, if you take keys and a sharp item to a phone it'll damage it? Really?

In other news, water is wet.

The phone being damaged when attacked aspect doesn't bother me, nor should it really bother anyone.

What should bother you is poor quality control, and the edges of the phone chipping easily (like when taking it out of a case), or being chipped during the manufacturing process.
