*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

I just recently got an iPhone 5, best decision I've made in a while.

Coming from the Android ecosystem, the only thing I've missed is the bigger screen size. Everything else is much more polished over on iOS. So much so that I've already spent upwards of £40 on apps alone in a few days.

Any more detail on this wifi bug?

I'm not sure whether this is the same bug, but recently I've been getting only 1 bar of WiFi signal no matter how close I am to my router. Also tried at different houses, and turning WiFi on/off but I still remain with just 1 bar.

Update: Just downloaded and installed the update. I now have full WiFi signal. :)

Think thats the one, only had it happen twice on the iPhone 5 though and a reboot sorted it each time, so not a major issue.

Been a massive fan of iPhones since the first one came out (which I bought) - I then went onto an iPhone 4 and recently onto an iPhone 4S. I was considering getting an iPhone 5 - but for me there just wasn't that much of an improvement over the 4S to warrant the extra money. Instead I went with an even dearer option and got an ASUS Padfone 2 - best decision I've made.. and in my opinion - it's currently the best phone on the market at the minute (and I've played with almost every latest/best spec model from all the main manufacturers and some smaller/lesser known brands as well!).

I feel I made a wise choice as the iPhone 5 is only supported on EE 4G network (in it's current guise) and anyone hoping to get it on Vodafone/O2 - will need to return their existing iPhone 5's and pay an 'upgrade' fee of around £120 (the last i heard) - that in addition to the fact that the 5S is rumoured to be making an appearance before the end of 1H next year.... and when it does come out - I doubt it'll be anywhere near as capable or packed with features as the ASUS Padfone 2! :)

Any future outlook of the iPhone 5 going down in price anytime soon, on contract? I know the deals are fairly good now, it's just the handset price I don't want to pay for, but then again I don't want to end up paying more per month to get the handset free.

Well, I got my black iPhone 5 a couple of weeks ago and (coming from the Galaxy S 3) I'm really impressed with it.

It was mostly as I expected but the overall performance is top notch. It's really, really fast and smooth, which is immediately noticeable even compared to a 4S, and the battery life is solid as well, quite similar to my iPhone 4 which was the best battery performance I've had out of a smartphone recently. The quality and performance (and even selection) of the apps is still significantly better than on Android, at least for what I use. Even more so for games (not that I use many).

If you like iOS, you really can't pick any faults with this phone, it's right at the top of its game. The feel and design is second to none as well, usually phones lose the premium feel when they get lighter, but not the iPhone, it feels just as good as it has since the iPhone 4.

Im really looking forward to a fully supported 4G 5S myself now - jumped over to the dark side as it just made sense for the time being and Ill keep my iP4 as a glorified MP3 player for the car.

Just nice to have a change

Apple official lightning sync/charge cable: £15. Lol.

Apple official lightning to dock connector adaptor: £25. LOL.

Apple official lightning to micro USB adaptor: £15. Lol.

eBay versions of the above: Between £2.75 and £5.

I don't care if they don't look as nice as the official ones or aren't made with bits of real panther or whatever. I want a few spares.

Will they work fine though? Anyone got any 'preferred' sellers or item numbers or whatever?

Well they'll be based on cracked chips so they may well only work one way round or may be quite flaky, I'm quite close to this whole thing and Apple are being very aggressive about this kind of thing and they're demanding we report any unofficial competition we're getting.

Personally I'd wait until you start seeing proper brands lowering prices which shouldn't take too long, if you can buy something like a cheap rocketfish in carphone or own brand in another telco store thats when you know you're getting the real deal. These ebay ones will be super cheap, perhaps even non existent.

If you check the details on the eBay lightning to 30 pin adaptor then they'll probably say that audio throughput isn't supported. I needed one for my car stereo so had to stump up the £25, the prices are ridiculous though.

Heading in store to grab a 32GB Black and Slate.

On the off chance I don't like it , does Apple's 14 day return policy still apply to in store purchases?

Well I bought it and it seems great so far.

O2 sent a message saying I need to phone them as they had problems with the settings yet I can call, send and receive messages and browse the web just fine.
