iPhone 5 smashed

Managed to accidently smash my iPhone 5 screen tonight and have an appointment booked at the apple store for tomorrow.
Is there any chance of a free replacement? Absolutely gutted

How much is a replacement for a iPhone 5? iPhone 4 was £119?

I really can't understand why they should give you a free replacement for breaking the phone........but it happens unfortunately.

I understand of course but I'd rather not have to spend £100 or so.. of course If I have to I will

I do have insurance but there is a £100 excess
Might as well pay whatever the apple store ask for

Absolutely this. If insurance was quick and easy I would have done that.
