*** iPhone 5S/5C - September 10th ***

With regards to the scuffing / chipping that the 5 suffered from, I think it's been massively improved without any song and dance about it. I had a release week iPhone 5 and it chipped whenever you looked at it. It was replaced in an Apple store a month back and it's massively improved, there's not a single mark on it.

Even the models in the Apple Store I looked at today were much better.

Real shame, as it was the only reason the iPhone ended up going back for me. Seriously tempted to get a 5S this time round if the issues are gone!

Must say that the colour choices are pretty good, that graphite is exactly what I wanted them to come out with the first time round (a lighter colour with black glass, don't like white glass!). Gorgeous, and will be my pick.

Have to say... those phones do look really nice :)

Also, the lightening port looks so much stronger than the micro usb ports on most android phones, it is a much better design.

I still hope they do a pure black/slate model. I much prefer it to the silver surround on my 4S.

It is. Feels so solid plugging in. And it's bi-directional :D

See those pics up the page.

Also this fingerprint sensor thing seems to be gathering steam. Not sure what use it'll be but hey, there's always one or two new things on each new iPhone (dual LED flash being the obvious one atm). Wonder if it'd mean you could do away with the keypad lock and just unlock by fingerprint ID.

Honestly I really hope Samsung/HTC copy the champagne style, it's bloody gorgeous but I don't get on with iOS. It reminds me of really top end AV Receivers, so much want.

My release day 5 suffers from it badly, even in a case. My friend got a 5 about a month ago, doesn't use the case and his hasn't got a single mark on it. Mine chipped within 24 hours of having the phone

It's my only negative point about the 5, other than that I love it to bits and will upgrade to the next iphone after the 5S when my contract expires.

Had the iPhone 5 since release and other than a hardware problem that was swapped out, neither the release phone nor replacement have scratches and I've only just started using a case :).

Proof (as if it were needed) that some people are just mental. Why not just get your preorder in online quickly and let postie deliver it on release day? Never understood why people are so desperate to get things on release day.

If you cant get an iphone on release day, is it that much of a hardship to wait another 24/48 hours? Or is it just bragging rights to get the first ones so they can show off to their mates?!

I shall be pre ordered and taking delivery of it like I do with most things on release day that I'm hyped for :p, I just don't fancy queuing up for something over night, let alone several days.

This. Never understood this mentality. It's also one of the main reasons why Apple get a lot of hate.

Be prepared for the joke times ahead when you phone your provider and they give you the usual "No discounts" "High demand product, so we're charging premium" etc.

All this will be paled into insignificance when some inherent flaw is unearthed about the iPhone 5S and you wish you'd held off buying for a few months.

./I will be an early buyer too, as I never learn my lesson.

Usually Apple will replace a faulty iPhone without any hassle so there's not as much point in holding off.

I guess if there's something fundamentally wrong with the phone that they don't fix in latter batches then you're screwed but I've never seen that with an iPhone. It's usually minor niggles people have ...
