The battery in my iPhone 6 has started loosing power quickly, going dead at 20% and when charging goes from say 2% straight upto 25% ... Its just over 2 year old i bought it new direct from apple, would I have a chance of getting it replaced under the consumer law or is 2 years acceptable for the battery to be dead so i'll have to pay ? cheers

My missus' iPhone 6S does this and it's only a few months old. Apple have admitted that some iPhone 6/6S manufactured between a certain date have dodgy batteries but I think they were Oct-Nov 2015 so if yours is 2 years old it won't be one of those.

Acceptable for this sort of thing.

Batteries have a limited cycle life, so once you've reached that limit (something like 800-1000 full charge cycles IIRC) you will start losing efficiency. As you've discovered, this means the phone will turn off suddenly.

If you have Windows there is a free app which will tell you more info about the battery: http://www.icopybot.com/blog/check-ipad-iphone-battery-charge-cycle-count-without-jailbreaking.htm

And Mac users can use Coconut Battery: http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/

I thought they only give you a free battery change for the first year after purchase, i remember when i got my iphone 5, it was decent battery life for just over a year then it just died, been using cheap replacements since then that only seem to last about a year each.

you should try speak to apple store, you can get replacement refurb for free, long as you've bought it from apple store directly. apple have replaced my sis's badly scatched iphone 6 with a refurb couple week ago and i just got mine replaced as well this week. both phones was out of warranty. never bought any apple care.
