iPhone 6+ bendgate issue.

TROLLOLOL I'll stick with my stiffy 5c :D

Well I am sure a stiff 5 is better than a floppy 6 :D

I have my 6 coming next week and I know the issue seems to effect 6+'s more but it is worrying. Compared to the number sold the number bent isn't very high but I think it is too high considering it has been out a week. I guess I will have to keep an eye out on what happens over the next couple of weeks as to whether I keep my 6.

For "Antennagate" (aka iPhone 4 Death Grip) Apple issued free bumpers. I'd purchased one a week before from the Apple store and it was automatically refunded by Apple. I was pretty satisfied. Hopefully Apple will announce something similar (just for the sake of it) and I'll get £40 back. Not sure the leather case will help at all but it looks nice at least.

As for the issue, I'm a 6+ owner and have no concerns right now. Just loving the phone.

Having a case is not a solution, why buy something really thin, then put a case on it.
Exactly this. I don't put cases on my phone any more and I haven't done for years. At the most, I put a clear protective armour guard thing on the back which preserves the surface and doesn't detract from the way it looks.

I didn't buy it purely because of its thinness. That is a neat design feature of the product though for sure (although it's caused the phone to apparently bend more easily than others). Sticking a case on it barely alters this by any noticeable measurement. It is still very thin with the case on. The Apple leather case that is. Can't vouch for any others.

Apple might just do it as a gesture to iPhone 6+ owners. You never know.

So if you're worried about dropping it, it has a better chance of not breaking? Handy if you're travelling, etc.

I don't expect it to break by dropping. I don't like a case and don't uses cases. They occasionally break, but so be it. Insurance/repair. I just don't get why people have a fascination with cases.

Some cases look wicked. I'd rather go naked too though TBH.

The biggest issue I have with the 'Get a case' advice is thin cases generally offer little protection. Ones that offer decent protection tend to be a bit chunky. I'd rather just have a handset that's designed to tolerate a reasonable amount of abuse.

The screen on almost all smartphones will most likely shatter if it lands face down. While it'd be nice if that wasn't the case, it is. Using a case, in some situations at least, is sensible, if not ideal.

I don't really like cases either but I have one that I use if I'm doing something where I might drop the phone.

Now screen protectors, I hate. :p

Had the Apple silicon black one on my 6 for about 30mins before taking it off again. Have already returned it.

Takes too much away from the phone aesthetics in my opinion.

Screen protectors I used to hate, till I tried this one. Now I like them as long as they are good. Before that I kept trying them and peeling them off within 24hrs, but they were only cheap ones. http://www.skinomi.com/ (it came with the back as well, but only fitted the screen), why can't someone just make a sapphire screened phone I want. In fact why can't I just tell a Chinese factory what spec I want and they stick it in an existing body design. Or at least semi customisable.

The thing is they rarely fall face down, I drop all my phones hundreds of times, only very occasionally do they actually smash.

I've been poised for the last few days on pulling the trigger on an iPhone 6 Plus. This has genuinely made me think again because although I never put my phone in my back pocket, I do keep it in my front pocket and my super trendy 501s are pretty snug fitting.

This is the thing, whilst putting it in your back pocket and sitting on it is idiotic, most people will keep a phone in a front pocket and it's easy for a bit of force to be applied to it if you bend over for some reason and the phone is in the "wrong" orientation. I notice this sometimes when I bend over to tie my laces and the phone is upright in my pocket - you can feel it digging into your hip a little.

If the 6 can't stand up to these kinds of scenarios without deforming then Apple have a serious problem.

Why would anyone want to carry around a device that is uncomfortable and leads you to exert force on it? If you want a phone that can stay in your pocket all day then don't get a 6+ as its too big.

I have to take it out of my pocket to do my shoes up - but as its the only phone that can offer an ipad-esque experience its worth it IMO.
