iPhone 6+ bendgate issue.

Yeah, it looks more like a twisting type force from the bend videos that does it rather than a load on a point smack bang in the middle of it.

OH MY GOSH!!! I thought you were kidding! Unbox Therapy has over 40 MILLION VIEWS.

If I remember correctly, Google pays $1 per thousand views so he made $40K from snapping his phone... no wonder we're seeing a number of people just snapping a thousand pound phone in half.

 not a bad investment.

Just been to manchester today and went to look at the iphone 6 / 6+ to see which I preferred . The 6 plus is huge and there were quite a few bent ones on display too although not as bad as the video they were still noticeable , I'm not surprised though as it is a big phone and it's so thin ! After going today I'm definitely going to get a 6 now :)

Code:
[b]Deformation[/b]

HTC One (M8) 70 pounds
Apple iPhone 6 70 pounds
Apple iPhone 6 Plus 90 pounds
LG G3 130 pounds
Apple iPhone 5 130 pounds
Galaxy Note 3 150 pounds

What part of the phone is this pressure being applied to? iphone has a clear weakpoint

Not very bright these lads.

Consumer Reports placed a single point load central same as the Apple test machines. The Unbox guy places two thumbs, one directly under the reinforced area by the volume switch cutout. If you look inside the assembly you can see why it might fail at that point. There's a potential weak spot where the reinforcing bar ends, but still allows rotation at the screw attachment point to the chassis.
Apply an off-centre load directly at that point, along with the longer leverage from the rest of the body (fxd) and the mode becomes a rotation about the screw which places the thin cutout section in tension making it easily to bend than at the centre. Looks like quite an easy fix, just extend the reinforcing bar. Doesn't look like it would interfere with the screen clips or the battery.

Does it again, bends even easier and shows that another phone @ a fraction of the price is unbend-able!!

"another phone"

as ever the choice of the other phone is crucial.

The tests have shown that you can bend any phone with enough pressure. But nobody is interested in a video showing them bending lots of phones. They just want a bendgate video to e-mail to their apple owning friends to mock them.

They are kids at the end of the day, listen to their justification and you can see that they truly believe they're fighting a just cause:
- store employees lying to the consumer
- billion dollar corporation disputing valid concerns

It's hardly an offense to give them a criminal record and to pull them away from an education. They need to be taught a lesson in respect for other peoples belongings and that believing 'the news' without doing your own research is never a wise choice in this murky water of entertainment/news. That's why law holds a classification between a minor and an adult.

<analogy of a product fulfilling it's design intent>

Take that for a brilliant example of why bendgate probably isn't such a big deal and why you shouldn't take all 'news' at face value.

This is what they were doing. :D

It's fair enough if you want to buy a product to 'stress test' it or even just bend it so you get lots of clicks but doing it to something you don't own?

It's like going to a car dealership and smashing the windows on a car to prove they can smash.

Pathetic behaviour.

What's the iffical word on this now? Mines getting pretty bad as I've been walking around a lot on holiday, plan on returning it to an Apple Store when I get home next week. It's a bit of a joke on a £700 device but if it's covered by the manufacturer I don't mind.
