iPhone 6 plus to replace ipad/iPhone

Well, a decent sized screen for gaming, web browsing etc, and "small enough" to hold with one had is good. So I guess the iPhone 6+ is an ipad Mini -mini... But with a phone! But won't be cheap. I got iPad Air and may go for iPhone 6 4.7, as still on 3GS (nearly 5 years now.

Christ 3GS???

You'll really notice the speed difference.

My contract is up so thinking of cashing both the ipad and iPhone 5 in.

Just wanted people's thoughts about living with the size etc

I'm thinking of doing similar. Replace my phone and iPad Mini with a 6+, but I might keep the iPad for work/reading/trips so I don't get distracted as much when i'm meant to be working or drain the battery on my phone.

After physically seeing the size of the 6+, i'm definitely looking towards getting that model. :)

I've used the template and tried to 'origami' it into the closest match I can for depth, but the template is pretty much exact, give or take a millimeter. When I finally see it in the flesh i'll know for sure though. :)

Sizewise, width is a few mm more than the HTC One M7 with a bit extra in height. Due to the placement of the home button, the size seems a lot more manageable for me.

I wouldn't ditch the iPad right away. For on a train or plane you might get away with it. But spread on the sofa in front of the TV or in bed I'd be reaching for my iPad every time. I'd expect most home iPad use falls into these two categories.

If I had an ipad mini then I might be tempted to trade but not an ipad air the extra screen size for use round the house is too nice!

When going on holiday I always take the iPad and iPhone I recon the plus might do the job of both. I agree in the house nothing will be as good as proper iPad.

I had similar thoughts when i bought the first Note but it didn't work out like you hope the big phone experience isn't tab enough and you'll soon want a tab for the domestic setting.

Replacing two dedicated devices which do their jobs perfectly with one which does neither as well in my opinion. I'm sticking with my 5S and Air, even the regular 6 is too big.

Define jobs.

It's entirely down to how the individual uses these devices. For some people the 6 Plus could perfectly replace both iPhone and iPad. I myself have a 5, and bought the iPad Mini when it launched. However I quickly found that I wasn't using many iPad only apps, but I loved the bigger screen. I eventually sold it and have been wanting something to bridge the gap ever since. The iPhone 6 Plus may just be the answer.

Well if you want a single "hybrid" type of device then fair enough, each to their own. Personally I'd rather have a phone which is compact and pocketable and easily usable with one hand (the reachability thing is farcical) and a large iPad for when I want to browse or read magazines and so forth.

The one-handed thing is actually a huge deal for me. I have average size hands but, on the 5S, the top left corner is the limit of my thumb's reach so even the regular 6 would be too large, let alone the Plus. What concerns me is that there's no longer an option for those of us who actually want a smaller screen. They may keep older models around for a while but, if you want the latest models, it seems you're now going to have to put up with a larger screen and device.

I can see a bit of a backlash over this in the future and wouldn't be surprised if an iPhone 7 Mini makes an appearance with the 4" screen.
