have been given a 6s but the battery level indicator shows 70%...then 2 mins later 20%...then switches off etc

is there much difference between batteries (brands) I see there's 1715 and 1850mah batteries on Amazon that come with the tools to change them..or just the battery on its own..I have precision screwdriver anyway but would need the other bits

also saw that you can get it replaced by Apple for £25

what is the best option? (to get the best battery)

is it worth the hassle of sending it off to Apple?

not near but could go in to town...dropping it off/picking up same day would be alright...don't kow if that's an option

Maybe Vader...I think it's worst case scenario £25 if not...don't mind paying that or replacing it myself but don't want to buy a random battery if the easiest and best way is just to go to Apple

Just get it replaced by Apple, its £25, hardly breaking the bank. If they **** it up you get a new phone.

If you buy a battery and change it, costs £10-£15. If you **** it up, tough luck. Hardly seems worth the risk for such a small saving.

There are a couple of people that posted in the other thread that they got a new phone because Apple broke it in the process of changing it.

Apple also do a mail in service where they post you a box, you put the phone in and send it back. They use Fedex IIRC.

yeah..never thought about the possibility of breaking it!

attraction of DIY is could get the bits and do it tomorrow...tho with the above in mind Apple is the best option

get one from replacebase they tend to be good.
or goto apple if your near to them.

are all their spare parts decent? I see some are listed as 'OEM'....are they original Apple (or whoever makes them for Apple) parts?

the charge port has now stopped working on the same iphone 6s....cost could be anything up to £300 odd from Apple.....from what i read they only do screen or battery repairs, everything else is replacement

looks way more involved than changing the battery but may as well try

prices are all over the place...ifixit seem more expensive tho...£6 on Amazon!

I was looking at this on replacebase https://www.replacebase.co.uk/apple...lex-headphone-jack-microphone-oem-space-grey/

I think I'm going to go back to my old phone anyway but would be satisfying to get the iphone fixed

btw..missed this
Parts Origin - OEM

The term OEM stands for 'Original Equipment Manufacturer', the exact meaning differs in several industries.

To us, OEM means that the part is the same part used within your device, using the same materials and specifications.

We use the term OEM to cover many parts from refurbished, used and new components, the exact condition will be stated in the items description.

In some cases when the part supplied is made up to several components (for example an LCD assembly) the part may have been assembled by a 3rd party vendor using OEM parts meaning that consumable may differ (such as adhesive used)

Well your a mug if you goto Apple that's all I can say

Replacing any part of an iphone 6s is simple as long as you follow a guide and keep track of which screw goes where. Whoever spends £30 on a charge port needs to grab hold of there solid gold head and shake some sense in there. Less than £5 on ebay for the dock.
