I am thinking of switching to iPhone (XR is my prefered choice at the moment) as my next phone but I am quite tied into the Google eco system, I use Google Photos extenstively which I really like, as well as Google Sheets and Docs and I would like to carry on using these especially features such as automatically backing all photos full size to Google photos. Does iOS offer decent "seemless" support for Google cloud services or do they try and push iCloud onto the user?

I recently swithced from Windows to MacOS and have been extremley impressed with the OS in general so this is turn has made me think about also switching from Android to iOS.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

I have never used this myself so I cannot confirm how well it works but the Google Photos app is available on the iOS and it will sync back all photos taken on the iPhone to Google.

I have used Sheets on the iOS and it works well with Google Drive.

Is this a good replacement for iCloud photo stream to sync to the pc? Photo stream never seems to work for me

Mrs uses Google Photo's on her iPhone exclusively, integrates fine does everything like it should do and even integrates with imessage if you start using that. The bonus obviously is you get 15GB free photo storage and it will sync with any other version of the app on another other PC/Phone/Tablet/Mac etc. If you use Google Drive for everything else then it all works really well, and is far and away the best cross platform solution while still allowing you to benefit from the device(s) of your choice.

The google photos app is great, but it would be far easier to use iCloud if you are using a Mac already.

I’m using a pc. I have iCloud for windows installed but it never downloads pictures from my photo stream. I know they’re in photo stream because my iPad downloads them. I’ve tried the methods that are listed online for resetting it but it still never works. It’s exactly the same on my windows laptop too

Thanks everyone, seems that I will be good to go then. I am far to invested in Google Drive/Photos/Docs etc to switch to iCloud so this is great news.

I tried it on my PC, it only seems to download new photos, not existing. I only really use my PC for gaming so it wasn't worth investigating more.
