If your hotmail account supports IMAP then yeah it will work no problem.
Its just a standard hotmail account.

Look in the hotmail help for setting up an IMAP client. There will no doubt be something.
In fact it doesn;t look like it supports IMAP, which kinda sucks.

i forward my hotmail to my gmail... don't know if that is available on the basic accounts
other wise you pay £15 a year for that privilege and POP access.
