My contract is up for renewal with o2 on 23rd of Jan and I am thinking of getting an iphone 3gs. Couple of questions about the iphone and syncing. I have searched google etc trying to find the answer to my questions but can't find a definitive answer. I have a PC and a laptop that I would want to sync the phone with. I use itunes on my pc for music but a laptop for general everyday computer use ie emails via Microsoft Outlook 2007. Is it possible to sync contacts and emails from my o2 email account from Outlook from my laptop and also sync for music/video etc from my PC or will the phone be tied to one computer like my Ipod is?

Thanks in advance for any input.

As far as I know it's tied to one computer. You could try keeping your iPhone synced to your computer with the music on as that's the main thing.

Then for contacts, sync via Exchange over the air to Google and from there to Outlook perhaps?

That sucks. All the music I have in itunes is stuff I have ripped myself from my own original CDs and Apple and their restrictive practices stop me from loading it onto my iphone because I link my phone to another PC that I also own. The most important thing for me is to sync emails/contacts/calendar so I would have to tie the phone to my laptop.

you can sync from 2 machines but it requires you to mess about with XML files, etc. I might try it one day, but it seems fairly compliacated and messy so I couldnt be bothered. If that stopped me from getting my legit mp3s on to my iPod I know what I would do, and its not something I can write about here. ;-)
