Is they a way to auto-disable this? everytime I sync my Iphone with Itunes, it decides to run a back-up of my phone, before it syncs any new stuff, which can take 10-15mins +.

Surely they is something to disable a backup everytime?

NM, think its because im pressing the main Sync button, rather than going into the music, photos etc tabs and syncing there.

In preferences, under Devices tabs, all I can see is a tick box for 'Disable automatic syncing for Iphones & Ipods'. And above that is a list of all my recent backups. Running Itunes 8.0.

I'm not at home so can't double check, but there should be a specific option relating to the backups of the phone.

I would also be a bit worried if your phone is literally taking 10-15 minutes to backup. Since I think version 2.0 of the firmware (possibly earlier) and with the latest iTunes, it should take just a few minutes max, unless you have apps and data to transfer also.

When I first got my iphone and had nothing on it, it would take a few mins, but now my phone is pretty much on the 6GB size, with photos, videos, music, apps. & it seems to be backing up everything. (apps/photos/contacts/videos etc)

Have a gander inside the iTunes Preferences and click the "Reset warning dialogs" button.

It's slow because you've previously ticked "Send diagnostic data to Apple" and also told it to "don't ask me again" which is why it doesn't appear anymore. If it asks in future, click send data but don't tick the "don't ask again", or ignore it.. your choice.

Some apps are poorly written, which means their tech/bug report files are MASSIVE which is causing the slow sync.
