So when you plug your phone into the computer it says its backing it up.

Does this mean that if i was to lose the phone i'd still have a copy of the photos and videos that re on the phone? If so where do you find them?

Thanks

doesnt back up videos and photos

Just settings and apps etc..

What it creates is just a single backup file that cant be openned in windows / osx. When you need it, you plug a wiped iphone into itunes and ask it to restore from a backup.

you will need to sync your photos and videos with your PC if you want them to be backed up.

It does backup videos and photos :)

I've just done a full restore and set it up from a backup and have all my old photos and videos on there

Unless you don't mean the photos and videos taken with the phone itself...

Yeah i mean the photos and videos taken by the phone itself.

Ive got a lot of photos and videos and i just wondered what i need to do to make sure i dont lose them should i happen to lose the phone.

I'll need to look into how to sync them.

Create a folder on your machine somewhere, and ask itunes to sync it with them.

Itunes should pick up its empty and prompt you if you want to copy them across or make your iphone blank.

Tell is to create a copy on the PC and sync.

as already said, photos and videos taken by the camera are included in this backup.
