Is the iPhone known for having a pretty bad battery life?

If I fully charge it, the following day I only have about 50% battery left. it just doesn't seem to be lasting very long tbh. Is this normal?

Is there any tips on how you can improve battery life?

Cheers

Bit more info needed: Which iphone? What do you do with it and for how long?

My N900 has the same cpu as the 3GS and lasts a day with moderate to heavy use. Batteries are the curse of the current top end phones, wifi etc just rapes the hell out of them unfortunately.

It's a high-powered smart-ish-phone... 2 days usage from a single charge is generally beyond the industry norm.

It's an iPhone 3G sorry.

If I browse on it or use a few application for as little as 30 mins, the battery life will go down quite a bit, then as I leave it overnight the battery life will reduce to about 50%.

I've never had a phone like this before so I'm used to using a phone that has battery life for a week or so, I guess I'll just need to get used to charging it more often.

Just leave a dock plugged in at the bedside, use your phone as your alarm and wake up with a full charge every day...simples

This. I've been using an e71 which has a 5 day battery life on reasonable usage but the bigger the screen etc the more power it will use. I now charge mine every night.

I charge mine every night, if I have used it a fair amount it can be down to 20% at the end of the day, once it went flat before I went to bed.

Two things that majorly preserve battery life.

Turn off Location Services, this almost doubled mine. Basically with it on your iphone constantly polls GPS to work out where you are, if you dont use a lot of apps that depend on it then just turn it on when you need it.

Turn off 3g, again, just turn it on when you need it if edge isnt fast enough for you.

Yeh in a nutshell the battery life on the iphone does truly suck eggs..its funny that even though its a 3G phone most people who have one say turn 3G off...i mean i dont even see the point of having one if you need to turn 3G off in order to last through the day.

Saying that my bro who has the 3GS has an in car charger with some sort of small little booster on the bottom ie plugs into the bottom of the iphone so is kinda like a reserve battery..says it works pretty damn well and gives him an extra hr or so of juice...he bought it from the apple store in lakeside shopping center.

Perhaps have a look at one of those...but its pretty laughable that the iphone has a silly battery life compared to other more capable phones;).

On my 3G I turn Bluetooth and Location service off. Moderate use I get around 2/3 days out of it.

3G/Wifi etc are all on.
