Hi.

I have had my iPhone 3GS since around mid July and I would consider myself to be someone who uses my iPhone a lot everyday. I listen to music using Spotify (offline) and have emails pushed but turn off notifications, 3G, wifi, bluetooth and Location Services. I have noticed that the capacity in battery has been getting worse and worse recently, to the extent where I think it might nearly be at the point of being able to be replaced. I have to charge my iPhone every night and have had to start charging it during the day as well. I understand that Apple's AppleCare covers a replacement when the battery is 50% or less of it's original capacity.

My iPhone's battery is down to 23% and usage reads 5 hours, 12 minutes and standby reads 8 Hours, 11 minutes. It's pretty bad that I can't even get most of a full day's use out of one charge anymore.

Do you think it's worth taking it to my local Apple store yet?

Thanks.
Jon

One of my housemates informed me that they install a monitoring application on your phone first and use data it logs to determine whether to replace the phone/battery or not.

I'll take it in on Saturday.

Thanks.

This is correct - they plug it in to a Macbook and it downloads diagnostic logs so they can check the actual usage.

Mine was only doing 3 hours use / 16 hours standby and was down to 3% by the end of the day - got it swapped no problem.
