As the title says really;

For some reason whenever i now try to make a call or answer a call without the hands free being in the dock, its the only way I can hear anything like a dialing tone or someone ringing me with out putting it on speakerphone and it playing through the speakers.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I cant understand it :confused:

Even with the headphones not in, and i try and turn the volume up on normally on "ringer" its saying "Ringer for headphones" when they're not plugged in.

Any help or advice on this would be great :) Im stumped :/

Thank you

There is a small switch inside the headphone jack, I believe, that tells the iPhone to route audio through the headset. Sometimes it gets 'stuck' and your iPhone thinks there's a headset attached even if there isn't.

Try a combination of wiggling the headphones in the jack, inserting/removing the headphones, blowing dust out of the jack and restarting the phone.

yeah what adwright said, it happened to me too. I also now pause the iPod before removing my headphones now.

Oooo it happened to you too? did you just shove it back in and wiggle it around also?

What happened after that? did you have to restart it or was it alright ?

Yeah, the way i figured out what it was, was if you press the volume buttons it will say 'headset' on the screen and not 'ringer', that's when it twigged for me. I just put the phones back in, took them back out and that was it.
You can also test by playing a tune on the iPod, if it is no longer on the headset it will come off the speakers :)
