Hi all

Further to my thread in apple software section, talking to my mate at work about iphone mentioned about putting into DFU mode. He asked what it was and I was showing him how to do it, put my phone into DFU (power and home button 10 secs, after holding home button for about 15 secs) However every other time I have put my phone into DFU a soft reset has brought it out. Not this time though :(

Just got home and plugged into PC, no sound to signify usb device connected, windows doesn't show anything, itunes doesn't recognise it. Tried soft reset while plugged into itunes and tried doing dfu actions while plugged in hoping itunes would recognise iphone in dfu/restore mode but nothing.

Further info: Running ios 5.0.1 and jailbroken with redsn0w.

Edit: Forgot to mention tried the usual, different cables, different usb ports etc.

Forgot about trying that, found a guide saying run tinyumbrella plug in iphone and click exit recovery but doesn't give me that option. If there is another step then I will try it.

None of the above worked

Got it working again though, I went for the ultimate reset - Disconnect the battery :D now it is up and running again. I don't think I shall DFU it again lol.

Thank you for the suggestions though.

There are 2 types of DFU.

The method you describe is flaky, it's much easier to connect the phone to iTunes and just press the home + power button for 30 seconds.
