iPhone Bricked

Hi all,
I have an iPhone 3G running 4.2.1, I wanted to JB it but its power button was broken so I decided to create a DFU IPSW in Redsn0w and use SnowBreeze, I kept on getting error 1600 so I decided to restore back to stock firmware but halfway through iTunes crashed and closed, now the iPhone is completley dead, not being recognised by my pc, I have tried diff cables and mashing the power button (sometimes it works when you press really hard) but nothing, what can I do? Do I just have an expensive brick?

Hardly and expensive brick, an 3G with broken power button is worth about £40 on eBay. Maybe time to pick up a new phone.

I'm fairly sure Redsn0w was updated to include a special feature to permit an update when a user's home/power buttons are not functioning correctly:

DFU IPSW

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback from users who can’t launch a DFU ramdisk because their iPhone home/power buttons are broken or intermittent. We’ve added a new redsn0w feature that lets you enter DFU mode as long as your phone is healthy enough to restore to a normal, everyday IPSW. You don’t need to be already jailbroken to use this method.

In redsn0w, go to “Extras->Even More>DFU IPSW” and select an IPSW that is currently being signed for your device and that you’d normally be able to restore to without any hacks. redsn0w will create an “ENTER_DFU_” version of the IPSW that you can restore to just like any other IPSW, except that now you’ll be dumped into DFU mode towards the end of the restore (WARNING, your screen will remain completely black…the only way to even know its on is that iTunes and redsn0w will detect it!). The technique used by this feature is 3 years old but surprisingly still works today!

Or is this the method you are trying? Don't use iTunes. You can update directly via Redsn0w.

Turned out it was just my PC usb ports not giving it enough juice, working now, and yes I am using the DFU IPSW but it puts it in WTF mode and I am finding it hard to enter Pwned DFU
