Well, as thread title. My iPhone 3G is having problems charging both through the power adapter and through the USB cable when connected to a computer. I've only got 1 power adapter but I have 3 of the USB cables that come with iPods. Plugging into the wall with the power adapter does absolutely nothing, no message on the screen saying it's charging and no lightning bolt through the battery indicator either. I thought this could be a problem with the power adapter so I tried plugging into a Windows PC with a USB cable and nothing showed, I tried a different USB port and again, the computer didn't even pick up something had been plugged in, iTunes didn't open and the phone made no attempt to show that it was charging either.
I then tried a different cable thinking it may have been the cable at fault so I tried a second cable, and plugged it this time into my MacBook when I got the following message upon plugging in:
I've never seen this message before so I'm unsure of what to do next. In regards to the phone it's self I've tried a soft reset and I've tried blowing into the bottom of the phone to get any dust that may be on the connectors there but no luck so far. I was thinking of restoring the phone as a last resort but I can't do that unless the phone is recognised by iTunes and seeing as it isn't even being detected in the Windows PC and I'm getting this above message when plugged into a Mac I have absolutely no idea what to do now.

EDIT: This may be better in the hardware thread but as I didn't know wether the problem was hardware or software based I just took a punt.
