iphone - check how to get it?

i would like to buy a iphone, but i dont want to get the contract.
And i was just wondering If i could goto the apple store get the phone and unlock it?

Also how easy is it to unlock?

Mac forums is the place you want to go to for iPhone related stuff.

1. Go to apple/o2/carphone warehouse.
2. Buy the phone.
3. Go home and unlock.

You don't sign a contract in store, you do it in iTunes so you can bypass it.
