Hi all.

My main machine has a 64Gb SSD which has my Windows install on it with some key programs. Then I have other drives for software, storage, etc.

My iPhone gets backed up to my SSD and is taking up about 8Gb of space. If I change my iTunes settings to backup to the cloud (iCloud I assume it's called) will this automatically delete the local backup?

Also, will my machine have to upload 8Gb of data? This is going to take me bloody ages!! Will it do a full backup EVERYTIME, or does it do it incrementally to avoid large uploads to the cloud?

Thanks

It won't delete the local backup, No. So you'll have to go and manual delete that from Appdata\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup.

Also, It will be your phone that will do the backup, The first backup will obviously be a full backup and then it just incrementally backs up after that. If you have an 8gb backup file, I'm guessing you have a lot of stuff in your camera roll? If you take it out and shove it on your pc, Deleting it from then iPhone and then just sync it, That will reduce the size of the backup as at 8gb it will refuse to backup as it is over the 5gb free.

Very useful info, thanks dude. Yes, I had about 2000 photos/videos in my camera roll, I've already removed some and backed them up on my machine so it might be that the 8Gb backup is already smaller.

Thanks for the help.
