iPhone Data Roaming 'Problem'

When I got back from the US a month ago, I noticed that I'd been charged about £4 for roaming data, even though I'd never turned Data Roaming on.

I phoned O2 CS and spoke to somebody who was extremely rude and basically told me that it was my fault (because I'd used the WiFi?!) and that he wouldn't refund the charges. At this point I just gave up, it was only £4 and it wasn't worth moaning about any more really.

Then I got a text last night...

Wish I'd put a complaint in about the customer service person I spoke to now!

How many other people has this affected?

Just lack of communication within 02. Remember they are just script monkeys who have no idea what they are saying. Always call them with that mentality.

i got this text, but not sure how much they are going to refund and can't be bothered to work out how much it should be as it would require going through o2's itemised bills which i usually find are an absolute work of fiction compared to how much i actually use my phone.

I got this the other day too, i had a massive bill after getting back from greece but just accepted i'd used more data than i thought and paid it. Looking forward to a hefty refund, very decent of them to admit their mistake!

Guy at work received the same message after having had a large bill for roaming in Turkey when he had only turned data roaming on for a couple of minutes at a time. They've obviously screwed up somewhere.

Im going to France in august for 10 days, should I just leave roaming off?

Bit of a pain to have an iPhone and no data connection... it makes it as useful as a two year old k750i :/

I had this, did notice a 3p charge from when I went to Greece, wasnt really that bothered but at least they noticed the issue.

Thought it was odd at the time considering data roaming was off...

I've just checked and it seems I've got an £5.00 charge for roaming! I turned all net access off before I flew! :(

Guys, can I ask, I'm off to Lanzarotti next month, how much will I be charged for using the internet there?

I think the villa we're staying at has WI-FI so I maybe ok, I may send texts as well, how much would these be?

We seem to be following each other's posts. ;)

iPhone users have ITS, so calls etc work out at these rates:
http://www.o2international.co.uk/callingfromoverseas/its.aspx

Texts will come out of your allowance at a rate of 4x. So if you send 1 text, it reduces your allowance by 4 texts. Once you run out, you have the rates as above.

Data is £3 per MB inside the EU, and £6 per MB outside...

What if i have the unlimited texts bolt-on?
