Iphone, Desire HD or Galaxy

i've got an iphone 4 here and there are some annoying things about it.
the amount of apps available is amazing, the community has to be the best thing about iphones.
not being able to change the battery is a real negative. i've never used the htc desire hd, but the fact that you can swap batteries and memory cards sounds good.
also, not being able to play divx is annoying too.

how much can you get a sim free HTC Desire HD?

I have a galaxy s (cost me £230), previously had a 3GS, which was most more slick, smooth and "just worked)

However, if you want your phone to be more flexible then get a Galaxy S

DHD....not impressed with the battery issue really. Would like to get a couple of days normal (calls and standby only) use out of a phone before i needs charged really.

For long haul days (days out, long haul flights etc) you could always just carry a spare battery in your wallet. Most smartphones these days will struggle to last a day with medium/heavy use, but the advantage of the DHD/SGS over the iPhone is you can carry extra batteries and swap them over.

Also...micro SD might cause problems for me using overseas..as I need to keep full size sim so I can use sim in other phones also.

How does the MicroSD card slot affect the size of the SIM card slot? Not questioning you, just genuinely don't know.

I thought batteries bled some of their charge even when not in use (or is that also a myth?:p)

Myth in this context :p.

Wikipedia said:
Unlike certain other types of batteries, lithium polymer batteries can be stored for one or two months without significantly losing charge. However, if storing for long periods, manufacturers recommend discharging the battery to 40% of full charge.[6][7] In addition, other sources recommend refrigerating (but not freezing) the cell.

Some other myths.

OK, my bad again! :p :D

Checked your link, I'm very surprised that I was so completely wrong about the number of charge cycles not degrading a battery's total capatity! It's been common knowledge for so long, and I've always tried to get my phone as close to empty as possible before recharging it for that reason! (And I know a lot of other people did too)

I used to up until a month ago when someone told me that it was worse to do that (charging from empty) then just top-up charging from 40/60/80% every time.

From Apple:
Charge Cycles

A properly maintained iPhone battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.
Let It Breathe

Charging your iPhone while in certain carrying cases may generate excess heat, which can affect battery capacity. If you notice that your iPhone gets hot when you charge it, take it out of its case first.

Try all the phones yourself if you can. Out of those I'd choose the iPhone, the amount of apps available is crazy, and much lower audio latency compared to Android if you ever want to use any Music/Audio apps. :) Other than that, there's not much in it really...

Iphone tbh...would pick it over Android any day and every single time tbqh.

But as per usual with this forum...the standard response you will get is ANDROID and nothing else;):p

Its the standard response because Android is better? Sales prove this.

I haven't yet seen a good reason as to why an Iphone is better than a Desire HD, can you give one?

i've just sold mi iphone 4 and got a dhd. the screen is awesome and it looks to me like the camera is better too.

I have rooted the desire and flashed a custom rom onto it already purely for the sheer fun of it

The best phone is the one you enjoy using most, and the one that suits THE USERS needs most.

For some that is the 'garden walled / restricted approach' of a standard un-jailbroken iphone, other like to 'tinker' with the custom roms of android etc. Some like iTunes, others like to drag 'n' drop.

Each to their own - none is 'better' than the other, just different.

People that lower themselves to petty arguments ("My iPhone is better than your Desire" etc) need to grow up and get a life, as in the grand scheme of things it aint important as most people change phones every year or two anyway.

You have to try them out personally I have owned them all in your list and they are all nice phones, all have strong and weak points, NO one phone is better and forget the "nothing touches the Iphone 4's super high resolution screen, then someone else will say the DHD has a 4.3 inch screen blah blah blah.

Some like I4 some like Android some like Windows phone 7( my personal fav atm) but only you can decide which you like the most.

You know, that's probably really bad for the battery! It'll lose its memory very quickly that way, and on the iphone it's a pain to replace.

I'm still getting a good (at least two days) from it. Plus it's insured, so if the battery gets crap i'll just throw it at Apple and ask for another. ;)
