iPhone: Did this ever happen?

Looking for gift ideas for xmas, and this is the only thing thats putting me off buying the iPhone for someone, lack of MMS. Unless this is coming... Or is it just vaporware? :/

Any info is appreciated, im guessing this gets answered a lot but the search isnt bringing back much hits.

It's not possible to send MMS out the box but you can recieve them as a link.

You cab jailbreak the phone and send them properly though.

I doubt the iPhone will ever get MMS out the box however.

It's called Swirly MMS and is only available on jailbroken phones as stated above.

I read it leaves the phone open for SSH connections? If thats true...

Ill continue to look around at other phones maybe :/

Only if you leave ssh on... which you don't.

MMS isn't such an issue... O2 is unlimited data so you get a text telling you have have a MMS, just go to their site and view it on there. Hardly the end of the world.

Swirly MMS is meant to work, although I haven't tried it myself.

i don't know anyone that ever used mms. go on buy it and they will love it.

The phone is much better than anything out there even without MMS. As Justin says, if you recieve one you get an internet link where it can be viewed online. Maybe one day, it will come with it out of the box.

By jailbreaking your phone, you can install programs like bossprefs etc... and turn SSH off

Hmm... Is it true that you cant forward on text messages either?

Seems the more i read on the phone the less it does, and most of which you would expect from it :/

No you can't forward SMS.

Apple have worked on the interface which is superb, but the features are lacking. For me its sometimes annoying having a lack of MMS but it is still a fantastic phone.
