Iphone Dock

Hi. I am wanting to get an iPhone 4s dock so I can charge the phone and sync it with my computer. I want it to be my clock so it always shows the time when its plugged in. I have seen quite a lot of cheap ones on an auction site but I dont know if they will be what Im after?

Anyone? I just want to know that when it is docked will the screen still be illuminated for me to be able to see the time

i think the screen goes blank after afew mins? or that could be when i had the display to turn off though. mine was cheap jobbie off that auction site no probs

Screen will turn off on both the official or el-cheapo jobbie from ebay. It works just the same as if you plugged the cable into the bottom of the phone directly.

Could always get a clock app to have on for when its plugged in or if jailbroken, set it to open that app when its plugged in to charge via activator (believe it can do this, otherwise i am certain there is a tweak in cydia that can offer this)

This is how I think most people do it. Set it up so that as soon as you plug it into power the clock app opens and stays open.

Just a quick heads-up - The new iPhone (Rumoured to be released August/September time) is rumoured to have a different, smaller dock connector. So you may find the dock you buy now won't work with the new one. Like I say, just a heads-up, you may not be planning to upgrade or it may not bother you
