Contact Storage/Sync: Gogolsync

Ok here's the thing. I used to use Outlook 2007 for storing my contact details a while back, complete with contact photos as you do.

Since Googol introduced their GoogolSync I decided to move to that and store my calendar and contact details there, since I would always be in sync because it uses Exchange. No problems encountered in using or setting that up.

A friend popped round this weekend with her 3GS. When she gets incoming calls, the caller display fills up with the contact pic of that person. Mine used to do this, but at some point changed to the following pic below. Anyone know why? I always get thumbnails of the incoming caller in the top right instead...

I'm very sure it isn't OS 3.0 as it has been doing this before that came around so I an suspecting GoogolSync here, maybe it stores contact photos differently? It isn't the JB either fyi.

I just called my 3GS from home and the caller image appears in the top right as you've posted. I don't use googlesync, it must be an OS thing.

Hmm cheers. I tried checking out the Apple forums about this but didn't even know what sort of sub-forum to look at so I had little luck. I can't seem to find any options in the settings app about this either.

Sure there's not a setting todo to specify if a full screen image is used?

For apple todo that it would take two lines of code..

I remember reading about a similar problem a while ago. If you want your contact's picture to fill up the screen when you receive an incoming call, their picture has to be taken with the iPhone's camera. If you have set the contact's picture in Address Book or Windows equivalent on your Mac/PC, it is shown as a smaller picture just like your screenshot.

It's got nothing to do with OS or applications.

It only appears small if you assign pictures through Address Book or via Outlook etc. If you assign the picture by editing it on the phone you will find it will fill the whole screen. I found out the hard way after my contacts added by MobileMe only appeared with smaller pictures, whereas newer contacts that I'd added on the phone appeared fine.

Hope this clears it up :)

Maybe they appear full screen if they have been set on the iPhone itself rather than on a Mac/PC and then synced? :)

Could well be! I've been searching though settings for the last few minutes and I can't find anything that seems to relate to this...

Edit: Seems you are correct :)

^ah crap :o

Cheers guys, you're right. I just took a pic with the phone and set it to the landline number. I rang the phone and it appeared full screen.

Great..now I need to go re-do all the photos for my contacts through the phone lol :/
