iphone inline remote thing...do they sell those separately?

Just wondering, as using the itouch on the move is a bit tricky if I want to change tracks "blind", I heard that the iphone comes with an inline headphone/remote thing, can you get those separately and do they work on the itouch?

I've misplaced my iPhone buds at the minute (I'm hoping they're at work) but I'd say NO because the jack is longer and presumably non-standard. I'm sure someone else will confirm.

The actual three pole jack is, but the plastic housing further up must be thinner than usual to fit past the iPhone's shell

I found them and I can confirm the remote does not work on the iPod Touch.

I only just found out today (as I just used my old iPod headphones when I got my iPhone) that the iPhone headphones have a mic in, with a little remote on to answer calls pause/play tracks.

That was a nice little surprise. I feel rather stupid for just finding out about it now though after 3 months lol

lol, the in-line mic and music control is really awesome, though I have now replaced them with some Ultimate Ear iphone buds from the US, a lot better sound quality. Shame Apple don't make some nice in-ear versions.

I found that out yesterday, went into CPW and ask about them and the sale assistant didn't know and he asked his manager who said "Yup, 100% guaranteed". I said, "what if it turns out it doesn't?"

So he opened a new one there and then and tried it out with my touch and it didn't work.

Did I hear though that some people are running the iPhone firmware on the Touch? It would be interesting to see if it does work on that.

Or maybe I just dreamt the firmware thing...

I didnt view the little inline remote as a good feature initially but Im chuffed its included. Really handy for calls and track skipping.
