Its only takes a few days but *I think* you have to stick the new sim in and connect to itunes to complete the unlock.

Extremely tempted to get an iPad before I head out to Italy for 3 weeks in October.

Almost certainly wont be sim locked, i have used Voda and Three sims in mine since buying it.

As for getting a micro sim just use a sharp knife
