iPhone/iPod Touch Firmware 2.2.1 Firmware up

I'd like to know how the firmware update works. It seems to download a complete image of the new OS. Are the OS and all user-data on separate partitions so that the new OS image can just be dropped in place?

Thanks for the heads up, downloading it now.

Pretty much yes, I think that's how it works :)

Excellent thanks for the heads up!

Edit: All working fine standard iPhone 3G

anyone notice anything different, Ive only ever had a few crashes of safari since Ive had it really.

I'll be updating tonight, but I've noticed that my iphone has become increasingly unstable recently, particularly safari which crashed twice this morning.

Any idea if you can properly delete podcasts loaded from iTunes (rather then via iphone itunes) by swiping across them? At the moment I can delete them, but they come back. Ones I've added straight to the phone delete properly.

I can't really touch this unless I rip out the baseband upgrade since I need my phone to be unlockable (I have an O2 contract now but I'm moving to Australia very soon so will need to use a local sim card there)
